James Lovelock Then and Now

Written on March 15th, 2010 by adminno shouts

As icy waters pour over the gunwales of the sinking global warming hoax, rats begin to abandon ship. Here’s environmental scientist James Lovelock in 2007, well before the climate crisis was widely known to be a swindle:

Before this century is over, billions of us will die and the few breeding pairs of people that survive will be in the Arctic.

In 2009, Lovelock admitted,

Most of the “green” stuff is verging on a gigantic scam.

But even then, the human race had only one chance to save “up to 90 per cent” of the population from perishing from global warming:

There is one way we could save ourselves and that is through the massive burial of charcoal. It would mean farmers turning all their agricultural waste — which contains carbon that the plants have spent the summer sequestering — into non-biodegradable charcoal, and burying it in the soil. Then you can start shifting really hefty quantities of carbon out of the system and pull the CO2 down quite fast.

Sounds like an expensive project; good thing it won’t be necessary. In light of the climate’s failure to get any warmer, Lovelock now says that C02 is preventing a climate crisis:

It is worth thinking that what we are doing in creating all these carbon emissions, far from being something frightful, is stopping the onset of a new ice age. If we hadn’t appeared on the earth, it would be due to go through another ice age and we can look at our part as holding that up.

Or maybe not, because as even casual observers have noticed,

…all the theoretical stuff … tends to be very dodgy and I think they are seeing this with climate change.

Let’s hope these clowns make the most of all the grant money showered upon them at taxpayer expense. The credibility they sold for it will take a generation to regain.

House Democrats Start Their Health System Shell Game

Written on March 15th, 2010 by adminno shouts

The cat poop sandwich (surprisingly, no video of that scene from Anchorman) they are showing is not the same cat poop sandwich they will ask you to eat, as the American Spectator points out

Shortly before midnight on Sunday, Democrats released a 2,309 page health care bill that will start the process of reconciliation — but don’t let that fool you, it’s not the actual reconciliation bill with all the changes you’ve been reading about. Instead, as Rep. Paul Ryan, the ranking Republican member on the Budget Committee, explained to me last week, this is just the “shell” bill — the vehicle that Democrats need to get moving on health care. Once the bill gets approved (likely Monday), Democrats will send this phantom bill over to the Rules Committee, where it will be stripped, and then they’ll insert in all of the actual changes that they’ve negotiated.

Why all of the theatrics?

Well, under the reconciliation rules in last year’s budget, any reconciliation bill would have to have been submitted to the Budget Committee by October 15, 2009. It just so happens that earlier versions of health care legislation cleared the Ways and Means and Education and Labor Committees last year. So Democrats just dusted that legislation off, and are using that as the vehicle to begin the reconciliation process. That’s why, for instance, if you look through the 2,309 page bill that was released Sunday night, you’ll find a public option, which leadership has indicated would not actually be in the final bill. (Interestingly, the student loan bill is also tacked on at the end.)

Just a “simple up or down vote,” remember?

Constitutional democracy? We don’t need no stinkin’ Constitutional democracy.

Michelle Malkin has a taste of the table of contents, at least prior to the Democrats getting around to inserting in all the provisions not in the bill. The Democrats are expressly attempting to thwart the Will Of The People, as John Boehner points out

“Democrats may run Washington, but the American people are in charge of this country,” Boehner said. “The moment a majority forgets this, it is writing itself a ticket to minority status.”

Why would they do this? They don’t have the votes.

R.S. McCain, along with mentioning that the election of Scott Brown hurt the Dems ability to ram this through in a Constitutional way, writes

This whole Pelosi procedure is nothing but a thumb in the eye of the Constitution.

Gateway Pundit, through a commenter, points out the illegal alien and ACORN provisions.

Question: will any group, including the GOP, have the cajones to challenge the Constitutionality in court if passed?

Have You Heard of the Slaughter Solution?

Written on March 11th, 2010 by adminno shouts

How desperate is the Senate to force Obamacare down everyone’s throat? VERY. Now that it is clear pro-life Democrats won’t budge on their principles…the Senate is considering hoodwinking the American people with a deceptive move dubbed the Slaughter solution.

House Rules Chairwoman Louise Slaughter is prepping to help usher the healthcare overhaul through the House and potentially avoid a direct vote on the Senate overhaul bill, the chairwoman said Tuesday.

Slaughter is weighing preparing a rule that would consider the Senate bill passed once the House approves a corrections bill that would make changes to the Senate version.

Mark Tapscott explains this in a nutshell:

Each bill that comes before the House for a vote on final passage must be given a rule that determines things like whether the minority would be able to offer amendments to it from the floor.

In the Slaughter Solution, the rule would declare that the House “deems” the Senate version of Obamacare to have been passed by the House. House members would still have to vote on whether to accept the rule, but House members would be able to say they only voted for a rule, not for the bill itself.

Here is what they are hoping for:

Democrats who think the Senate bill doesn’t sufficiently limit abortion rights would never have to be on record as having voted for it. (Because the Senate abortion language can’t be fixed in [the reconciliation bill] for procedural reasons, some Democratic aides say there is talk about a later bill that would handle these issues.)

What a transparent Congress we have. I’m glad they drained the swamp. On the bright side, if Democrats do this you can all but call it a Republican Congress next year.

Michelle Malkin has the call to action!

Doing it Chicago style: Obama gives away judgeships for votes

Written on March 4th, 2010 by adminno shouts

Thousands upon thousands of Americans voted for Obama because they bought into his image of hope, believed him when he said he would change DC politics.

What they got was a president who took corrupt, dirty DC politics to a whole other level. Instead of bipartisanship and transparency, they got more corruption and Chicago style politics. The newest example? It looks like Obama bribed House Democrat Jim Matheson of Utah by giving Matheson’s brother, Scott, a judgeship:

Tonight, Barack Obama will host ten House Democrats who voted against the health care bill in November at the White House; he’s obviously trying to persuade them to switch their votes to yes. One of the ten is Jim Matheson of Utah. The White House just sent out a press release announcing that today President Obama nominated Matheson’s brother Scott M. Matheson, Jr. to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

Just coincidence? If it is just a coincidence, then that’s really not all that reassuring either, because that would mean that we have the most clueless, idiotic president in American history currently sitting in the Oval Office. When you find out that Jim Matheson voted against Obamacare not just once but twice, it sure looks like Obama was trying to buy his vote, doesn’t it?

Now, sensible people might learn when legislation is this difficult to pass. They might listen to the angry constituents who don’t want this bill. They might move on when they see that it’s this hard to get this bill passed, even with a super-majority in Congress. Most people would realize that no one wants this bill, and that they need to let it go. But Obama is a Chicago-style president. He’s sworn that he’ll get his done no matter the cost, so he will bribe congressmen, he’ll strong-arm senators, he’ll use any dirty tactic he can to get his way, no matter how corrupt… and no matter how much the American people are against it.

Just Because A Good Chunk Of The IPCC Is Fake, That’s No Reason To Not Believe In AGW, Right?

Written on February 15th, 2010 by adminno shouts

I always enjoy watching climate alarmists jump on that ride at the amusement part, the one that spins you around and around and around, especially if it is the type where the bottom drops out. Now, in an article entitled Missteps By Climate Scientists Threatens Climate Change Agenda (which rather proves that it is all about something other than science), the AP shows just how obdurate and pig headed the True Believers are, instead of being broad minded and inquisitive, the optimal position for scientists.

After laying out all the issues involved with the UN IPCC report through the first six paragraphs, we are treated to

Climate researchers say the errors do not disprove the U.N. panel’s central conclusion: Climate change is happening, and humans are causing it. Some researchers said the U.N. panel’s attitude-appearing to promise that its results were infallible, and reacting slowly to evidence that they were not-could undermine the rest of its work.

Even Phil Jones has acknowledged that much of the data is bunk, that it was just as warm, if not warmer, during the Medieval Warm Period, and that there has been no statistical warming over the past 15 years. Something all the climate alarmist computer models said was impossible.

“What’s happened here is that there’s an industry of climate-change denialists who are trying to make it seem as though you can’t trust anything that is between the covers” of the panel’s report, said Jeffrey Kargel, a professor at the University of Arizona who studies glaciers. “It’s really heartbreaking to see this happen, and to see that the IPCC left themselves open” to being attacked.

Got that? It is the fault of people whose minds are open and are interested in the actual real data and real science who are at fault, but not the fault of those who are falsifying, spinning, alarming, and just making it up as they go, scientists who have enormous amounts of prestige, power, and money at stake for pushing man made global warming theories and scare-mongering.

“The underlying science is certainly there, but the citation process the IPCC went through is sloppy. There’s no other word for it,” said Doug Boucher, director of the Tropical Forest and Climate Initiative at the Union of Concerned Scientists.

Ah, the old “fake but accurate” argument. Makes one wonder when actual science will begin on the alarmist side.
